Ode to CDs
by Lidia Temores

Any time of the day
morning, noon or night
You are always there for me
Whether I'm sad, happy or mad.
If I'm sad
you sometimes make it worse
with your killing words of love.
If I'm happy
you won't make it better or worse.
If I'm mad
you'll just put me on the edge of the bed
about to break out my anger.
You are a top
that spins in the radio
making my motions go round
and around
changing and changing my feelings
like you are changing clothes.
You are my love
for never judging me
by the way I might sing
or if I don't return to you
for a day or two.
You are always there
when I want to get drunk
for that person that made me suffer
for his love
and you play
over and over
playing the same song
again and again
like a broken record.
Ode to Skye
by Desirra Davila

I love it
how our love is informed by hate
I love it
how our friendship
is meant to be
it's fate.
I love it
how we used to love him
and I especially love it
how we never
let him make our world dim
I love it how we laugh
I love it how we cry
I love it how we say mean things
and I hate it so much
when we say goodbye....
Ode to My Books
by Nicolette Gascon

Every time you end your life
you open mine a little more.
Because of you
I see the world
from many different shores.
Now I see the light
In many a different view.
Because of you
I face the world
directly toward the sun.
You open my eyes
feed my soul
and nourish my very life.
Though it pains me much
I have to say
I need to dispose of you.
My dear,
I sincerely implore you ...
forgive me harsh crime;
taking from you
what you give
so freely.

Ode to My Dogs
by Lizet Alvarez

Last morning
they came
to wake me up
lift me up
with their loud barking
as if it was raining outside
amidst crashing thunder.
They looked scared
but they were only hungry
again.
I thought there was a thunderstorm
but it was only the sound
of stomachs growling.
Here come my dogs
wagging their tails
as hyper and energetic
as little monkeys.
They run fast
up and down
stairs
as fast as cheetahs
but they are evil deep inside
at the same time
as they are cute.
Evil
like a mad scientist
distorting nature.
Yet I still love
these little devils;
one as short
but long like a hot dog,
the other
a labrador
gold as the sun.
My two dogs
help give me life.
Ode to the Digital Camera
by Mariah Sarate

Through your eyes
I see the world
Through many a different light
The way you capture memories
captivates my soul
The spirit of your lively form
lightens the weight of my heart
When I'm distraught
you calm my fear
When I feel the world
tighten its hold around me
You release me
to what may be possible....
Ode to My Happiness
by Julia Gonzalez

When I'm happy
I am on cloud nine
But when I'm sad
it's like I am in hell.
My happiness is always fighting
with love
It's like love could be like heaven
But could hurt like hell
When the love feels like it has passed
it kills my happiness
When I have lots of love
My happiness is dancing around
all of the time
Lonely and happiness aren't the best of friends
They are jealous of each other
but one is always getting
the short end of the stick
craving greater attention
to fully take control
One place that happiness goes to find itself
is in rain
Rain and happiness have a little talk
then the sun coumes out
They don't always agree
The sun doesn't always shine
Alone
that's what I am sometimes
Alone
without happiness
Alone
Sad
Nothing
That's what life is
without happiness

Ode to My Bed
by Gissel Castro

There you are
just in my room
You wait for me every night
You take me when I am tired
or just plain sleepy
Sometimes I cry
myself to sleep
but you never mind
I can change you
anytime I want
You adjust to my every wish
If I want to see you differently
I change your sheets
I add more pillows
or take some away
I can change you everyday
But you don't mind
You prepare me
for the next days ahead
each and every night
I need my sleep....

Down But Not Defeated
by Desirra Davila

Pain, as real as it gets
Fear, as much as one can bear
Love, love ... it seems there is none
Nights so cold, no one to hold.
Days too long
Can't go on for long
See you close,
Yet see you far
Like I see the bright and shiny stars
Feel a river between us,
A river of my tears,
Oceans
As deep as my thoughts
My thoughts of you.
They say to just give up
But to give up
Is to give in
Like a raging lion
That has been tamed,
Beaten down,
Defeated.
Happy Valentine's Day
by Skye Flores

How can I love you
Yet still hate you
Loving you more
Makes me hate you more
Which way do I go
Do I go on loving you
Or go on hating you?
Hating you seems so hard
But loving you while you're not loving me
Is so very hard you see
My love for you could fill the world
If only you would let it
But I'm afraid your love for me
Can't even fill a saucer
Full of secrets
I cannot decode.
You are jewels
That could make a treasure
If you'd only open your chest....
I Miss The Little Things
by Paulina Ramirez

I miss your kiss
I miss your touch
I miss the little things
That always meant so much
The way you made me smile
The happiness I felt
The little things you said
That made me want to melt
The way you'd apologize
When ever you knew you were wrong
You couldn't stand when I was mad
But I couldn't stay mad long
I miss the way you laughed
At everything I'd say
Then, told me I was beautiful
And that just made my day
I miss the way you couldn't let me go
When I needed to hang up the phone
You told me you loved me
A thousand times a day
And you'd never leave
Until your point was made
I loved the way
You looked at me
Right before we kissed
It was a look of warmth and love
I never dreamed could exist
You made me feel like a queen
Always giving me what I need
But now I have nothing left
Except those memories that haven't ever left
I miss your kiss
I miss your touch
I miss the little things
That always meant so much.
Love In The Air
by Eric Morales

You change like the weather
You continue to surprise me
After I thought I'd seen it all.
Every day your star keeps rising
Like the fame of a celebrity.
You grow stronger
Like a seed on days of sun
And I cannot keep up.
You grow expensive
As electricity in Oz
And I can no longer afford
To keep you.
So farewell until someday
We might meet again,
My technology....
The Light of Love Will Never Fade
by Nicolette Gascon

The light of love
Will never fade
For it lives within our soul.
It shuts down all our strife and rage
And fills us with calming sage.
It brings warmth to all our hearts
Especially a mother's, just to start.
Like the sun it shines right through
All the hatred that causes a storm.
Like brooding clouds
It haunts your mind,
Waiting to get you trapped.
But, fear not,
You shall be spared
From this terrible mess.
Instead you'll receive
The gift of love.
It stays with you always,
Like a floating dove.
Though life fades,
The heart endures.
It lives on through others,
And survives the harshest soul.
Love is the peacemaker
Of all that we see.
It brings about
Faith and hope.
Without it,
We won't be able to cope
With tragedies that happen
Throughout your life.
It helps you fasten
Your heart to the one you love.
Love conquers all,
Without a doubt.
The Battlefield
by Lidia Temores
Love is like a battlefield
A wide open range
Where our feelings flow
With anger
Bullets
And cannon balls flying everywhere.
Wishing to go back
To the comfort of the past.
First everything was so pretty;
When I held you close and called you mine,
When you said I was as beautiful
As an angel that God sent as a gift to you.
You showed me how to forget
All the bad things
And there is a world with hope inside,
But now we're so far apart
I'm the south pole
and you
in the north.
What happened that we are here
So far apart
With hate?
We've become shrews
that cannot be tamed;
You a violent thunderstorm
And I the wind
Whirling around
Without direction.
Standing alone with my thoughts
I'm left to ask thee
Why must it be?
Hatred Love Poem
by Juan Lopez
Love is really a mixture
Of so many emotions
Much like a world
Filled with many oceans.
Love is in the air for Valentine's Day
But people don't know
That it all ends in despair.
Love at first sight
Is wonderful and beautiful
But once love is gone
It turns into hate.
In a romantic relationship
Everything goes well
But sooner or later
Something goes fishy; starts to smell.
Jealousy takes over one another
And hatred starts to build,
The couple can't stand each other
And then separate for their own good will.
So this is the meaning of love
Love might have meanings
But the truth lies in the poem up above.
Love or Hate
by Daniela Garcia
I love you at the same time that I hate you.
I love you like music to my ears;
I hate you like a bloody war.
When I close my eyes I think of you;
When I open them I know you're not there for me.
You're like an ocean
The ocean in which I drown
Every time I try to swim.
I love you as if it was only you and me
Even in the largest crowd
But I hate you because you're always getting lost.
You're like a candy
I love you when you're sweet
But I hate you when you get so sour.
You're like a beautiful red glass rose
I love you when you are there to shine your light
Put my frown upside down
But I hate when you fall and shatter
I try to pick you up
But you keep on cutting me.
You are like a book
Full of stories;
Stories I would love to read
But when I open the book
The pages go white.
I'm between fire and ice
When I want to go back
The fire burns me
And if I want to go up front
The ice freezes me.
I just don't know
If I should love or hate you.

My Hate Poem
by Danielle Davis

I hate you for the things you do
I hate you because you're you
You're everything I find wrong
Your stupid little love notes
And sick rap songs.
The sound of your voice
Makes me ill
I look into your eyes
Makes me want to kill.
My heart that you once held
Has now turned to stone.
My days are so dark and black,
I wish I could just take everything back.

the sad moon
by edith garcia

i am like the moon
because the moon hides
when the sun comes out.
yes, i am like the moon
when problems arise
like smoke from a chimney.
christmas is here again
and yet i don't know what i want
in life
enter the new year
without you
all of the laughter
the smiles
and the love of a family for all
but me
alone
powerless
like a fish out of water
everyone happy
the songs
the food
and company
everyone is happy
but not me
thinking of you....

Dream
by Almir Veljacic

I look at the sky
But all I see is darkness;
Nothing in the air,
Not even a single dream.
The sky looks like nothing,
But compared to death
It is real as our heartbeats.
Treasure the things that you have,
For, like history, they can be erased from your memory.
Make sure you keep the ones you love close
Like the shadows that attend you under the light of night
And never let them go ...
The pain,
Like a world on broad shoulders,
is much too much to bear.

Celebrating Christmas just ain't the same
I miss your voice when you'd say my name.
All I can feel is so much sorrow;
"Live your life like there's no tomorrow...."
It comes around once a year,
Christmas is supposed to be full of great cheer.
On this day I'll shed a tear in memory of you;
So sadly, you're gone ... what can I do?
I still can't believe you left, like a wind blown snow during a drift
... Your memories will be my only Christmas gift.

A Sun and Moon
by Nicolette Gascon

The sun hides behind clouds,
The moon behind the stars.
How many secrets do these two
Great beings know?
Yet, in time, the secrets will show
In man's terrible heart.
First of all, to start my tale,
A mysterious, waving glow.
The moon, some say, is a demon,
But they have got it all wrong.
The moon, in fact, is a gentle soul,
Giving everyone her healing light.
The sun, however, is not the same.
He comes with a prideful show.
He glitters and gleams in such a way
We humans are blind
To stare into his bright face.
Beware, my world, of the sun.
He may harm you in such a way
You could turn blind and never return
To the life you once had, the joy, the laughter.
All this may fade away.
As dangerous as he is,
He still is quite kind.
He gives up his light
To keep us safe, warm, never cold.
He melts the hate in the great wide world
And helps the peace thrive and grow.
My tale, however, has no end
And I have run out of time.
I can no longer tell
The great winding tale.
But you have a life to live.
So go on, good luck, and remember
To always give and give....

When Christmas time comes around,
It seems you put me down.
You make me feel
Dumb as a rock.
This time of year
Is when you see all my fear.
I feel like a bomb
Waiting to explode.
You make me see myself as
Someone who is hurt;
Someone who is in pain;
Someone who feels like dirt;
Someone who is insane;
Someone who is sad;
Someone who is confused;
Treated bad;
Someone who has been used;
Someone ...
Who feels like no one.
Rudolph
by Adrian Aponte

Reigns supreme over all reindeer
Uses his nose like a foglight leading Santa's sleigh
Driven by jolly Saint Nick himself
Obeys Santa like a slave
Lives on the top of the world, in the North Pole
Prancer sticks to him like a leech
His nose is Krypton's red sun...
He is ... Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer .....
Elves
by Gissel Castro

Elves working at the north pole
Sitting on tiny little chairs
Busy as bees
Smiling and Showing their wide and white teeth
Making toys for all the kids that care
If you're bad you'll get a lump of coal
If you're good you'll get a bear with a bow
Little girls want dolls
Little boys want cars
Someday soon their wants will change like old clothes
For the smiles of others
But for now soccer balls and puppy dogs
Will fill their hearts with glee.
Candles Are A Gift Of Light
by Brenda Avitia

Candles are a gift of light,
A tiny sun
A bit of star.
No other dancer in the night
Dances with such sheer delight.
Little soul,
Serene and bright,
Each a glimpse of what we are ...
Shining, innocent people.
Christmas Time
by Diego Vega

Christmas is a peaceful time,
No one ever fighting;
Time to give and share.
Christmas is like a smile,
As soon as you show
It's there;
It never shops showing.
Even though you cannot see it,
Christmas is there.
Christmas gives a hug
to every boy and girl
So never forget about the joy that is there.
Untitled
by Lidia Temores

It's Christmas Eve
Just sitting next to the window
Waiting for you to come.
"Where could you be,"
I said to myself,
I told you not to go
With the home boys today.
But you told me
You would be back safe.
A loud knock on the door...
I ran like a rabbit
Running for its life.
Opened the door
A police officer asked me
Do I know you
And I said yes.
He told me there was a drive by
And now you are gone.
I cried
Like never before;
Like a lover's broken heart
I couldn't understand;
Like the longest algebra equation
Not even the smartest person could solve....
And now I'm by myself
Without you,
Like a bird without wings
Unable to fly;
Alone with only memories ...
Like a picture that says
A thousand words
Yet will never undo this Christmas
The saddest time
Of the year....

I Used To Be ... But Now I Am....
by Mariah Sarate
I used to be noticeable
with an attitude so bright,
but now I am invisible
like a ghost that comes out at night.
When you are invisible
Everyone seems to pass you by;
No one can hear you scream
Or even hear you cry.
They never seem to notice
And no one ever seems to understand anything you say;
Anything they hear they disregard or throw away.
So once more I must say
I used to be noticeable
Like a nice sunny day;
Now I am invisible...
As I sit sadly in the rain.
